A total of 2,044 policy holders from Prudential Assurance-BSN Takaful chipped in RM1 each and donated the money to the Darul Aitam Walmasakin Perkim Orphanage Kedah Branch on Lorong Seri, Alor Setar, Kedah.
The policy holders, from the insurance company’s Lok Ai Tee Agency group, had contri-buted towards the welfare fund for the first time.
Agency manager Lok Ai Tee and unit ma-nager Abdul Karim Saman led a team of offi-cers to the orphanage to present the RM2,044 cheque recently.
Lok said the amount was collected from customers who took up their policies last year.
“Each policy holder donated RM1 towards the welfare fund and since the response from our policy holders was so overwhelming, we have decided to make this a yearly contribution,” she said.
The orphanage’s executive Ismail Haji Bakar who received the cheque said that he was surprised at the kind gesture but was happy the agency had thought of the orpha-nage.
“The donation is timely, especially during the current economic situation,” he said.
